The Ferrari Dino 246 GT, symbol of a unique art of living.
The Dino 246 GT was an evolution of the Dino 206 GT, with a larger V6 engine and an extended 60mm wheelbase. Besides the longer body, the design was virtually identical, with just a longer engine cover and a repositioned fuel cap. The car was a great commercial success and three series were produced during its lifetime. When production stopped in 1973-4, demand was still high.

La Dino was a sub-brand in its own right
A 2.4-liter
version on a longer wheelbase. The 246GT - replaced the Dino 206 at the end of
1969. The body was now steel and the cylinder block of cast iron rather than
aluminum! but the increased power of the larger engine - 195 hp at 7,500 rpm!
was adequate compensation for weight gain. A Targa-top version, the 246GTS,
followed in 1972. While not quite as fast in a straight line as its bigger
V12-powered stable mates, the agile Dino was able to show off almost any pair
of clean heels on a winding course.

Steering is
fast without being super fast. It conveys through what seems a carefully
planned amount of feedback to exactly what is happening to the tires. Thanks to
the low polar moment of inertia of the track, the car responds instantly. The
turning limits of the Dino are very high… “So the Dino was and really remains a
driver's car par excellence.
An iconic car
As the first
mass-produced mid-engined Ferraris, the first Dino V6s were iconic cars. The
line they founded was going to be a huge commercial success for Maranello.
Production stands at 2,487 GT coupes and 1,274 GTS spyders! at the time the
model - discontinued in June 1974.
