The 2020 BMW M8 makes its debut as a coupe, convertible and competition version.
The 2020 BMW M8 finally made its debut in coupe and convertible versions. Like the M5, the BMW M8 will be offered in standard or competition versions. With a number of components shared with its four-door siblings.
Features BMW M8 2020
Among the key elements that distinguish the 2020 BMW M8 from the standard 8 series; these include the large lower front air intakes; quad exhaust tips; the black chrome grille and the black side mirror covers. The M8 Coupe comes standard with a carbon fiber roof! while the M8 Convertible has a lighter soft top that can retract in 15 seconds at a top speed of 30 mph.
Inside, the 2020 BMW M8 receives M Sport seats with an illuminated badge on the headrest; leather upholstery and carbon fiber trim. The M8 competition also obtains seat belts embroidered in the colors of the brand M.
Motorization
Under the hood of the 2020 BMW M8 you'll find the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 (codename S63), paired with a specially tuned eight-speed automatic transmission. It produces 600 hp in the standard M8 version and 617 hp in the competition version. As well as 553 lb-ft of torque, regardless of finish. To support the high-performance mission of the M8, the engine also benefits from improved oil supply and cooling systems. The M8 Competition adds a special exhaust system with selectable engine sound.
Like the M5, the M8 comes standard with a performance-oriented rear-steer all-wheel drive system. An electronically controlled multi-plate clutch distributes power to the front and rear wheels! and the Active M differential separates it further between the rear wheels. The rear bias of the all-wheel drive system will only lower power to the front wheels when the rear ones are overtaken. Using the drive mode selector, you can control how the M8 distributes its energy. If you turn off the stability control system, the car may go into rear-wheel drive mode.
Standard adaptive suspension
Standard adaptive suspension uses body movements; entering direction and road conditions to adjust each shock absorber accordingly. Three suspension settings, Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. They can be selected to fine tune the driving and handling characteristics of the M8. Competition models go even further in driving the M8 with tighter suspension tuning; more rigid engine mounts; increased negative front camber and forearm ball joints replacing the standard car's rubber pads.
BMW's M Servotronic power steering system features a variable steering ratio. Which, according to the innkeeper, improves straight-line stability and responsiveness. Like the suspension, you can also change the steering mode by choosing from Comfort or Sport settings.
