The Murcielago SV, whose name means “SuperVeloce” is the latest production model of the Lamborghini Murciélago.  This was before the introduction of its successor, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4.  The variant acts as the successor to the Murciélago LP 670-4 SV.  It uses the “SV” nameplate previously featured on the Miura SV and Diablo SV.

The Murciélago LP 670-4 SV is also the last Lamborghini car to use the Lamborghini V12 engine.  Because the Aventador uses a new V12 engine, codenamed L539.

Transmission and motorization

The Murciélago SV, being the last car to use the Bizzarrini V12 engine, which powered all flagship Lamborghinis since the Lamborghini Miura retains the 6.5 L (6496 cc) engine of the LP640, but with more power at 661 hp (493  kW).  This makes the Murciélago SV the car with the most powerful version of the Bizzarrini V12 to date.
